12-5-11, Monday

We just spent an eventful weekend in Canton, though we drove home every night.

Day 2 we happened upon a duck in the middle of the road on our way out there.  The duck, i named Random, spent the day in Canton with us, then we took her home.  She was a perfectly docile duck and just sat on the floor in the front seat.  Unfortunately, Olive and Gumball did not take kindly to her.  They got very territorial and mean, so we let Random run loose and kept the other 2 ducks in their coop.  Random stayed in the same spot right outside the amaranth bed and quacked all night.  But now i can’t find her.  Frown.

We ended up not going back out on Sunday because the weather got icky.  The wind was so brutal on Saturday, that at the end of the day, my tent/canopy thing got blown down and broken.  Poop.  And it rain for over 24 hours, super freakin cold.  My amaranth took a beating.  It’s falling over more and more.  Soon i won’t have any left, but at least the other greans are doing well.  As for now, i’m just harvesting all the maranth i can for salads and tortillas.

i’m actually not moving much, as my rib hurts like hell.  i broke it the first day out there, and abused ir for the next 3 days.  The kitties have just been chillin on the couch with me as i nurse my rib with a heating pad and watching cheezy christmas movies.  And now Ky has a fever too, probably due to the weather and being out all weekend.

However, i did sell alot more than i expected, but not as much as i’d hoped.  It was worth it, and i think i’ll be going back next month, as long as it’s not too cold.  The olive relish was a big hit, because i had some out for people to sample.  Next time, i’ll just try not to break any body parts.
